asphalt ends – journey begins

2010 March 9

fellow questers…

it is with great pleasure i bring two themes together i hold so dear… i speak much of how life’s journey involves getting help along the way

whatever the case… somebody… something… like in all mythological tales… our tale too.. amulets of good fortune will be brought into our lives…

depending on the nature of our journey… these amulets come in different shapes and forms… but no less do appear… no culture… no time… no bed time story is without the blessing of helpers…

i have also been pondering laws of attraction… especially… natural attraction… while trained to be heady… i have experienced a sense of aliveness that trumps the logic of mortal men and women… there is a role for these paradigms and constructs in our daily lives but not at the exclusion of a much more vast human experience…

i am referring to experiences wedded to primal truths… embedded in our marrow… passed from generation to generation… a reconnection with the natural world… unplugged… raw interaction between myself as organism/animal and wild places… an authentic feeling of ‘light and right’ based on just simply being… without limitations of symbols and structure…

where does the connection between mentorship and natural attractions occur for me… i have had the great blessing of befriending a long time desert explorer and spiritualist… albert raney… he is a man of great understanding on how attractions of the desert turn into spiritual awakenings…

for years.. he has coached me on the ins and outs of traveling the nevada desert… he’s taken many dirt roads over his forty plus years in northern nevada… each time i return to nevada… i like to stop by his desert abode and say: so where to now albert…

he always has a new place of power to experience… i have yet to be disappointed… so many of the places aren’t on maps… so when you arrive and spend time in these places… you feel the energy only an unadulterated explorer could feel…

most recently… albert recommend a special canyon tucked in the hot spring mountains of northern nevada…. about 50 miles east of reno… the place has great spiritual resonance… home of numerous nesting eagles and hawks… bobcats that watch every step you take and a vista overlooking the 40 mile desert… immigrants who took the overland trail encountered this brutal stretch… it’s desolate… no shade.. no water… plenty of bones though…

upon coming back to the front country… i checked my email and lo!… albert had sent me an inspiring email… i was really moved… since so much of what he shares in his email below marks the spirit of our ongoing dialogue… i wanted to share it with you…

alive,

gino

quester question:

do you have mentorships that help you cultivate natural attractions?

* this is a picture albert took of black butte… this butte represents the southernmost tip of the hot spring mountain range and is about one-half mile away from the borges family ranch which i use as base camp for desert quests…

Hello Gino . . . Having recently shared your divine company, visions of the Nevada Wilderness, and The Wild Self have manifest . . . And a desire to communicate has welled up within . . .

Upon reading “ginoism” the following words inspired attraction and comment.

Ref: . . . “we discover new reflections of ourselves that help us see nature’s endless expansiveness…entrusted by the divine energy percolating within…we share living…”

When standing in and observing the Nevada out back, “nature’s endless expansiveness” compels one to interact with one’s own immortal origins . . .

That is, if we temporarily relieve our culturally skewed local mind of it‘s services and demand that it stand in the background as an observer only . . .

and let our “Wild Self” step to the foreground . . . Letting our deeper consciousness, along with the senses, extend infinitely into Nature alone . . .

We will observe our Wild Self and Nature having a Divine Conversation . . . Without our help, except that we stand aside and let it happen.

That is to say, observing the “divine energy percolating within” conversing with the “divine energy percolating without” . . . and humbly, and perhaps bashfully, witnessing a very real and divine event.

At this moment there is the revelation that Mankind and Nature are One, not in a parroted mental text, but in a feeling that instantly penetrates the Body, Mind and Soul . . . like silent clap of thunder reverberating in all the Chakras at once . . .

Observing this Divine Conversation is a Discipline . . . An Awake Meditation . . . that is often difficult to achieve in a Bubble heavily laden with the elements of culture.

To many, this may sound something akin to Yoga . . . Please consider this experience as Yoga . . . Please recall that most all the great Yogis spent many of their days in the wilderness in their quest for meditative peace with Nature and themselves, to become One . . . This does not mean one must become a Yogi to have this experience . . . One must only be unselfish enough to allow one’s own Nature within (The Wild Self) have an intimate moment with that of it’s own kind . . . And together celebrate their common origin.

Hoping this note finds you “Light and Right”

Albert
