golden gate quest walk
fellow questers…
we are fortunate in san francisco to have such a wonderful urban park… golden gate national park… i live only a few blocks from it… cole valley… right off the n-judah line… for years i’ve meandered through the park… learning about its natural treats… there are so many places to get positively lost… for not all lostness is bad, no?…
north of 19th avenue… has plenty of fine exhibits… my favorite being the botanical gardens… i love hanging out in the gardens on a sunny day… falling asleep to the birds chirping in the background… my other favorite hiding place… a contemplative space… is the national aids memorial grove…
what an excellent job park planners did with this little wild oasis in the midst of the park… it’s only about 300 yards long and 100 yards wide… but it sits in a pit… removing you from much of the urban noise that hums nearby… so you receive an indelible sense of wild connection within moments of occupying the space… fantastic…
when i lead questers into this space… they easily kick off their city shoes… literally and figuratively… it’s a great place to get physically embodied… during the first phase of a quest walk… we spend time making sure our minds and bodies are connected… to the earth below… before meandering and dialoguing about a quester’s personal journey…
below are some pictures i took after a major rainstorm… and minutes before a quester arrived for a ‘wild self” quest walk…
alive,
gino
